Listen up, you magnificent speed-crazed lunatics.
The 2025 Cannonball Reunion is happening October 11th-12th in Darien, and this year we're pulling off something that'll make every safety bureaucrat within 500 miles break out in hives: we're bringing Dennis "Mad Dog" Menesini AND his legendary Chevy Dualie back to the sacred launching grounds.
The goal is $5,000 for the shipping, the airfare and Dennis' lodging. If we don't hit the goal, after paying the airfare and hotel, any extra money will go to Brock's Alzheimer Charity.
For you youngsters who weren't around when America still had balls, Mad Dog piloted this very truck in the final 1979 Cannonball Baker Sea-to-Shining-Sea Memorial Trophy Dash—the last great act of automotive rebellion before the country got neutered by lawyers and liability insurance.
Here's the deal: Mad Dog's willing to haul his ass and his truck out from Reno to join our gathering of automotive outlaws, but we need some financial firepower to make it happen. We're talking airfare, hotel, meals, and trucking that beautiful piece of Cannonball history across the country.
This is our chance to have one of the original desperados—along with his actual race vehicle—back where it all began. Where good drivers in good automobiles proved you could cross this great nation faster than any government pencil-pusher ever imagined possible.
So dig deep, fellow automotive anarchists. Throw some cash at this magnificent cause. Because having Mad Dog and his Dualie at the reunion isn't just about nostalgia—it's about keeping the spirit of automotive freedom alive in an increasingly sanitized world.
Every dollar gets us closer to assembling the most authentic gathering of Cannonball legends since 1979. And trust me, the stories alone will be worth every penny.
Who's in? Drop your contributions in the comments or hit me up directly. Let's make this reunion one for the automotive history books.
Because some traditions are worth preserving, even when—especially when—they involve completely illegal high-speed mayhem.
