When L. came to Minnesota seeking asylum, she envisioned a better life for her young children than the life they were leaving behind. Perhaps they would go ice skating, visit the Mall of America, swim in Minneapolis’s many lakes. L. has an illness that renders her unable to work, but the family made do through the hard work of her husband, M.
That dream came to an abrupt end on January 12. Despite the family’s legal claim for asylum, M. was abducted by ICE and transported to Texas. As his wife and children waited anxiously to hear what had happened to him, the bills began to pile up.
Then, a new development: L. learned where M. was being detained. But in order to release him, she has to hire a lawyer. Even though she is juggling her illness and the demands of caring for her children alone, L. is determined to reunite her husband with his children.
L. and M. urgently need money to hire a lawyer. They also need funds to keep a roof over their head during this dangerously cold winter. Let’s be the heroes L., M., and their children need. Every donation or share will help keep this family housed and hopefully bring their father home. We, their concerned neighbors, know there is a great need for help right now. Thank you for anything you can give.
