Bring Lupa to BROADWAY!
Hi guys!
My name is Heather, and I am an actor who lost their job due to, you guessed it, corona virus. I need your help bringing my island angel baby pup LUPA to nyc with me! I didn't plan on wanting to bring a dog back with me to the states, nor did I plan on falling in love with her this much, but I cant imagine life without her and want to be there with her when she experiences the world and all it has to offer! Help me bring a little piece of the island back with me to New York. My Lupa!
There are only 2 verified, trusted companies on island that can send Lupa for me. And I am hoping to have her out here by the end of Oct/early Nov before it gets too cold for her to fly. With the ongoing covid complications, limited flights out of Guam, and the length of travel to get her to nyc, the quote I received to fly her out is $2800. And that is just the flight. She also needs a vet examination 7 days before she flies to prove she is fit for travel, an international-travel approved dog crate which was $150, and $35 to register her as a nyc dog resident. So I am asking for $3000 to cover all of that. And if I surpass that, great! I'll be able to use it for necessities to get her well acquainted to her new life in the city.
Lupa has brought my family, and especially me the most joy for the past 7 weeks. From day one she attached herself to me and follows me everywhere I go, even to the toilet! She is such a delight as I see her learn more each day and understand her quirky, sweet, sassy, loving, and adventurous little personality.
At the start of the pandemic I tried sticking it out in New York City for a few months but found that I needed to be home with family during such times of uncertainty. Home for me is the beautiful island of Guam. With the nature of my work and constantly needing to be on call for that potential job opportunity, I usually only make it home once every year or two.
This pause in time blessed me with 3.5 months spent with my family, childhood friends, and enjoying where I grew up (The longest I've been home since college) While being home, we unfortunately had to put down one of our older pups, leaving our other rescue all alone. Dad and I thought it was best to rescue another pup to give our girl Maggie a new friend.
So we went to the local animal shelter GAIN and scoped out all the pups they had. Dad and I started in different parts of the shelter and met at the end to discuss which dogs we liked. Funnily enough, we both seemed to be interested in the same one. This bright red, big-eared, hazel-eyed, kangaroo mousey looking thing whose name was originally 'Baybee'. We as a family decided to rename her 'Lupa' which is Tagalog for soil/dirt. We named her after the rich red dirt that you can find on the island.
We took her home excited for Maggie to meet her new friend! And as soon as we brought her home, Maggie instantly decided she hated her and was showing severe aggression towards her, so into the house the new pup went.
We had no intention of having or training her to be a house dog, and mom usually prefers to not have dog hairs in the house. But let me tell you, 7 weeks in and this little dog has exceeded expectations and has wormed her way into our lives and hearts and is quite the Manley law abiding citizen in the household. If you can win my mom over, you know you're exceptional and that's exactly what she's done.
As a way of giving back, I am going to be uploading some singing vids of whatever song inspires me at the moment, and if you want to request a song when you donate that could be fun too! I'm gonna try to start with 2 videos a week.
With that said, I hope you can help me in any way you can! I know Lupa and I will be eternally grateful for it. From jungle to concrete jungle, BRING LUPA TO BROADWAY! Stay happy, stay healthy, and wear your masks everyone! God Bless <3
