Bring Love, Light & Relief to Dan & Jimmy for the Journey

The list of friends, family, and professional colleagues who love and support Dan and Jimmy could fill Carnegie Hall. Their story of love, recovery, and service to others is a long and beautiful one that began long ago on a cruise ship and continues today. From their notorious Big Gay Chicken Ranch parties to book clubs and meditation sessions, Jimmy and Dan bring joy, hope, and laughter into our lives.

Dan Krout was diagnosed with an "aggressive" form of bladder cancer just before Christmas, 2024. Together, he and Jimmy began to explore treatment options with the support of Dan's doctors. They were relieved to learn that he could get treatment very close to home, and they began to prepare themselves for the tough road ahead with determination, hopefulness, and love. Dan began chemo on Tuesday, January 28th, with a plan for four rounds of chemo with two-week breaks in between.

On Saturday, Feb. 8th, though, Dan took a turn. He had developed pneumonia at a time when his now immune-compromised body had few white blood cells to fight the pneumonia. Thankfully, ICU doctors successfully utilized a ventilator to help Dan's body breathe, rest, and start to heal, and then weaned him off the ventilator by Monday morning! Dan's medical team shelved the plan for continued chemo and are planning for surgery in March as an alternative treatment strategy.

Jimmy Tunstall, devoted husband that he is, needs to be able to be close by Dan's side in the weeks and months ahead. He has great faith in the universe to bring love and light into their lives, but he worries about money, medical bills, and how to pay their day-to-day bills if he's not seeing as many clients or leading brainspotting workshops. This GoFundMe will allow Jimmy to take more time off, spend more time with Dan, and for both of them to be able to focus on getting Dan well.
