My name is Carlos. I am a disabled, POC, trans, and LGBTQ permanent resident.

I have a service dog in training named Louie, an emotional support cat named Tigger, and a crested gecko named Eric.

I struggle with my day-to-day life due to my disabilities and trauma, but having them and caring for them helps me push through. They're like my kids, and I love them dearly.

I started getting harassed by animal control in late 2023, when a landlord/leasing office worker with racist and ableist intents called animal control on me with false accusations. As the months went by, they kept tabs on me but basically nagged me on anything that was to their dislike, e.g., my room/house being messy and me struggling with it. Instead of offering help and support, all I received was judgment.

My case was finally closed in mid-2024, but a very disrespectful roommate decided to call them again, as they had threatened to in the past, claiming I would "abandon" and "leave" my animals alone without any care for many days. This is NOT true at all. Anytime I would leave town, I made sure my animals were tended to and were happy.

I was then continued to be harassed by animal control. A lot of their claims (messy house, leaving them abandoned) were lies they believed from my roommate. I also believe some of these claims to be fueled by racism, homophobia, and ableism.

Last week, after communicating with them the whole time, abiding by their standards, and doing as I was told, without any warning or question, my animals were illegally taken by animal control. This has left me absolutely devastated. These are my children, and I care for them dearly. Being away from them has been the hardest thing I've had to do. I'm heartbroken. I need them back, and the only way to get them back is to fight them in court. I need help; even a dollar helps, even a share/repost. I would appreciate it. I'd like to say I believe they are currently fueled by authority abuse, racism, and ableism. I want to fight and sue them, as this is extremely illegal, what they have done to me and my family.
