Bring Liz Garrow to the Mayo Clinic

My name is Cierra Garrow and I am the eldest daughter of Elizabeth (Liz) Garrow. My mother has been battling an unknown illness since 2019.

For anyone who has had the pleasure of meeting my mother you know she is driven, high energy, excitable, and a passionate advocate. She dedicated her career to supporting those who experienced mental illness and physical disabilities and brought joy into many people's lives. You would also know that she cannot sit still, she is continually looking for ways to improve people's lives. My mom being off work has been devastating. She loves her work, her clients, and her co-workers. The toll this has had on her well-being is not quantifiable and has been horrible to witness as her daughter.

Upon reviewing my mother's medical file I counted over 67 investigative procedures to try and diagnose her unknown illness. She has experienced significantly invasive and experimental testing that yielded contradictory results which has made her illness difficult to treat or control. This has led to a more rapid decline in her wellness and has now reached debilitating levels.

My mother's condition worsened significantly in the past few months and came to a head this August when we received news that her life expectancy will be short with her current rate of decline.

My mother has exhausted the Canadian medical care system. We are now turning to our last option which is the world-class Mayo Clinic in Rochester Minnesota. My mother's testing and procedures will begin on October 2nd, 2023 and I will be travelling with her and my father to the Mayo Clinic.

We are asking for financial support on costs associated with the Mayo Clinic so my mother can receive the necessary testing and treatment to regain some degree of quality of life. The funds raised will only be used towards the Mayo Clinic Medical bills, associated travel costs to the Mayo, and residing in Rochester during the testing and treatment.

Their current bill with the Mayo Clinic has already exceeded $15,000 USD for the full review of her medical record, and all previous testing completed in Canada - including the raw data and footage. We are forecasting that the bill will be in excess of $50,000 USD.

I am hopeful this Go Fund Me page will allow my parents to not lose everything they have worked so hard for in their life to try and find a treatment and diagnosis to support my mother. I need my mother to be here for significant life events, to hold her grandchildren, and to coach me through all the milestones yet to come.
