A Place for Moms, Kids & Community Connection in Elko, Nevada

Hi, I’m McKeenzie Walthers, a local mom of two (Grace & Kace) living in Elko, Nevada — and I’m working to build something our town deeply needs:

A cozy, western-inspired indoor play space and coffee shop where moms can breathe, kids can play, and families can connect.

After going through postpartum depression, I realized how many women are silently struggling without affordable support, especially in small towns like ours. That’s when Little Spurs & Lattes was born — to bring community, comfort, and hope to moms (and their littles) in rural Nevada.

How We're Starting

We're kicking things off with FREE pop-up events — beginning July 1st at Elko City Park — where moms and kids can enjoy:

Coffee & playtime

Sweet surprises & donated goodies

A safe space to connect without pressure or cost

These events are fully community-supported and donation-powered — and they’re the first step toward a full-time storefront space.

A secure Story Box for private struggles and nominations

Volunteer/mentorship opportunities for teens

A sensory-friendly play space for ages 0–10

A warm coffee bar with local beans and rustic charm

Space for local mental health providers to connect casually with families

Why This Matters

This isn’t just about coffee or playdates.

This is about making sure no mom has to feel alone, unsupported, or unseen — especially not in a town that still believes in showing up for one another.

We're not a nonprofit (yet), but we're completely community powered — and it truly can’t happen without your help.
