Help Bring Lisandro Home — A Scholar, A Son, A Community Pillar

After years of sacrifice, early mornings, long shifts, and late night study sessions, Lisandro was days away from walking across the stage at the University of Utah — his college diploma finally in hand. This Friday was supposed to be one of the happiest days of Lisandro's life, in just one day, a dream he had worked hard for was about to come true.

But on the morning of April 29, 2026, on his way to his first day at a new job, with class scheduled right after his shift, Lisandro was detained by ICE agents during an operation in the Park City and Heber area that shook our entire community.

He never made it to work. He never made it to class. And this Friday, his seat at graduation will be empty if we don't act now.

Who is Lisandro?

If you know him, you already know the answer: he's the kind of person who makes every room a little warmer with his smile and radiates positivity in every community he joins. From a young age, Lisandro understood the importance of an education. He pushed himself to join programs like Dream Big, Bright Futures, and Latinos in Action each one demanding strong academic standing and an even stronger character. He met every requirement and exceeded every expectation.

He carried that same determination to the University of Utah, where he balanced coursework with work obligations, never once losing sight of what he was building, not just for himself, but for his family. Every grade, every shift, every early morning was a step to something bigger: His future and his legacy.

Lisandro has never been in any kind of trouble, he has no criminal record, and has always shown up with honor and integrity. He is a student. A son. A friend. A neighbor. A young man whose career is about to take off and has asked for nothing more than the chance to contribute, to grow, and to make his family proud. Lisandro needs to be released immediately as he is an integral part of our community.

Lisandro deserves to walk that stage towards a dream he was been pursuing for many years.

Este viernes iba a ser uno de los días más felices en la vida de Lisandro. Lisandro estaba a solo un día de cruzar el escenario en la Universidad de Utah para recibir su diploma universitario un sueño que se ganó con mucho esfuerzo, dedicacion, y sacrificio.

La mañana del 29 de abril, en camino a su primer día en un nuevo trabajo, con una clase pendiente despues, Lisandro fue detenido por agentes de ICE en una operacion en Park City y Heber que sacudio nuestra comunidad. Nunca llegó al trabajo. Nunca llegó a clases. Y este viernes, su lugar en la ceremonia de graduación estará vacío.

Lisandro es estudiante. Es hijo. Es amigo. Es un joven que jamas se ha metido en problemas, sin ningún antecedente criminal que lo dio todo para construir un futuro para él y para su familia. El se dedico a programas como Dream Big, Bright Futures y Latinos in Action que lo formaron como la persona humilde, trabajadora y profundamente querida que es hoy. Su familia y su comunidad están inmensamente orgullosas de él. Lisandro debe ser liberado inmediatamente ya que forma una parte integral a nuestra comunidad. El merece caminar sobre ese escenario este Viernes a recibir su diploma a ver los frutos de su gran esfuerzo.
