Help Support Lisa’s Family Lay Her to Rest
Donation protected
On September 30, 2023, Lisa suffered a severe hemorrhagic stroke to the right side of her brain while living in Florida. Days later, she underwent a craniotomy to remove part of her skull due to another stroke occurring. While the surgery was successful, the damage left was unknown. For an entire year, Lisa's daughter fought hard to give her a chance at a better life. However, the hemorrhagic stroke left Lisa incapacitated—no longer able to walk, talk, or have any control over her body. She lies in a bed 24 hours a day, being fed through a GI tube, breathing through a tracheotomy, getting dialysis 3 times a week, and being pumped full of medication round the clock to keep her comfortable. After a year of fighting, her daughter has had to make the unfortunate decision of moving her to end-of-life Hospice care, removing her from all life support machines, and letting her pass peacefully.
She has battled every day over the past year fiercely and continued to show how strong she is.
Anyone who knew Lisa knew how full of life she was, always taking care of others and making those around her laugh and want to be a better person. She loved her family and friends with all her heart. She was an adventurous and traveling woman and left her mark on the world wherever she went. As a preschool teacher for 20+ years, she has touched the lives of many children and families, which will live on for years to come.
The Mathis-Sampson family is asking for support during this difficult time during the transition to hospice and removing her off of life support.
