Bring Keven Home

This page is being started for my brother-in-law, Keven Signer. He has always been a dedicated family man and a stand-up true friend to many. Keven worked hard and has always been the proud financial support to his family. Then, worst-case scenario, while undergoing a heart procedure in April, Keven

Suffered a stroke and was forced to go on short term disability. Thankfully he made a full recovery from the stroke and he and his family hoped for things to get better. They were preparing for a second attempt of the procedure this September that would hopefully allow him a better quality of life and to be able to go back to work. Unbelievably, Keven suffered an unfathomable and life-altering accident.

Keven remembers nothing of the accident. We believe that he passed out at the wheel due to further complications with his heart condition. The collision with a tree has left him with a broken neck , 4 fractured vertebra and a very severe spinal cord injury. His current condition is near complete paralysis. He is grateful that he did not hurt anyone else but is crushed by how this has devastated his family and changed all of their lives. We are all grateful that he still has his smile and his dry sense of humor.

Help from this man was always just a phone call away for anyone in need. Friends and even friends of his boys have received his help. They have said it could be a young newly-wed family in need of an affordable updated heating source, or even anyone needing a sober ride home, Keven has been there for so many. He is a man of family and a man of community. He and Marsha have participated in countless fund drives and benefit rides with their treasured American Legion Rider Family. We know he never expected to be no longer able to give of himself in this way again, nor to be the one in need of compassionate help.

They are hoping for the best possible recovery but know they have to prepare for a reality very different than the one that was already difficult prior to this accident. The long-term prognosis is months of rehab and unknown further long-term or permanent care in and out of the home. There will be countless expenses associated with his care, and things that will not be covered by insurance. We anticipate there will be many alterations needed in their home to accommodate him.

My sister Marsha and their two sons are working hard to keep things afloat in the household, but they are finding unexpected expenses that cannot be met. The medical bills have begun, and there will be no end to them in sight. This family needs angels to look out for and to guide them and for the fates to take a merciful turn.

In closing, Keven has always had an open-door policy with all family, friends and community. The goal of this page is to ensure that this door is held open for him when he is able to return home to his family and begin the process of healing his heart, mind and whole body while learning to adjust to a new way of life. Every little bit of help matters at a critical time like this. Know that Keven and his family will be humbled and grateful for any help, be it financial or outreach to assist in some way to ease their burden. Thanks so much for your time and compassion. If you are spiritual, your prayers are welcome.
