Bring Karen & Tim Home: Air Ambulance Fund

As many of you know Karen Horsfall has been battling cancer this past year. Almost exactly a year as this page is being created. She’s one heck of a fighter!!

In November she and her husband, Tim, traveled to Florida with some good friends.

On Saturday, November 16 they were watching their favorite UNI panthers play football while enjoying some much needed rest and relaxation. The smile on Karen’s face of pure joy was so great to see!

Unfortunately the next day Karen started to become sick again and it continued. On Tuesday, November 19, Tim took her to the Lee County ER in Cape Coral, Fl to be seen. They were hoping for a brief visit to get her back to feeling better and return home as planned. Unfortunately that would not happen. There have been a series of ups and downs since then but the thing that remains strong is Karen’s fight and her positive attitude.

While the hospital in Florida has been good about working with and consulting with UIHC, there’s no place like home! This week they took steps to find a way to bring Karen back to Iowa to be cared for by her team. The best way to get her back here is by an Air Ambulance. With the assistance of their daughters they have been working through all of steps to make this happen. Unfortunately insurance isn’t able to cover any of this. In Tim’s own words “ I don’t care what it takes I’m getting her home!”

She and her husband Tim are two of the most giving people. They would do anything for anyone they could.

So many have reached out and asked how can they help. First and foremost keep them in your prayers! Prayers for strength, healing and to be able to be fully home! Second, if you are able and willing we have setup this page to go to Karen and Tim to help cover the expense to fly them back to Iowa and the UIHC care team.

At the time of this post everything is a green light for the flight home. They will go as soon as a bed is available in Iowa City.
