Hi everyone, My name is IDE! I am a 16 month old Labrador and I was adopted by Warriors Heart to become a PTSD service dog to a veteran/first responder in need. I thought that would be much more rewarding than a life without purpose. I found my Warrior, Cindy, a few weeks ago and we started my journey to become her Service Dog, a battle buddy….. to always watch her six. Cindy is a Army veteran and a first responder suffering from PTSD, major depressive disorder, and Anxiety with not many ways to cope on her own. She came all the way here to make herself better and I found my Best Friend. I would love to give her a chance at a better quality of life.
We work daily, refining my tasks that I will perform to help Cindy's days and nights easier to manage. Today we are working on my movement and guide tasks that will assist her with many things, including her hypervigilance, She will know I’m watching our surroundings. After this we will start on interruption tasks to mitigate her night terrors, disassociation and anxiety. I love doing my job and helping her, We have weeks ahead of us and every day I have my chance to show Cindy I’ve got her.
Cindy is also getting the counseling she needs while she’s here and her physical and mental health are improving. I would be so grateful if you could donate to my cause so I can return home with my new buddy in a few weeks and continue to help her, as well as giving me a second chance at life. Warriors Heart rescued me when I only had an hour left to live and I was going to be euthanized and now I have a chance to give back.
