Dear NCFC Family,
Whether this is your first season or you've been part of the NCFC journey for years, I want to take a moment to introduce (or reintroduce) myself—my name is Coach Ishe Nyatanga. For the past 12+ years, I've had the joy of coaching youth soccer in the Raleigh, Durham, and Cary communities. Being part of this club has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life, and I am incredibly grateful to work with such passionate young players and supportive families.
Each year, I run a special project close to my heart—collecting used children's clothing and soccer gear to send to young boys and girls in my home village in South Africa. For many of these kids, a pair of cleats or a gently used jersey means more than we can imagine. It brings joy, dignity, and the chance to dream through the sport we all love. Some of the kids I donate to might have never owned a pair of shoes, let alone soccer shoes—so anything is greatly appreciated.
Thanks to your generosity over the past four years, we’ve sent barrels filled with clothing and gear across the ocean, bringing smiles, excitement, and unforgettable moments to children who often go without. But each year, the greatest challenge remains the same: shipping costs.
This year, I’m reaching out again with a humble ask. If you have any gently used children’s clothing, soccer gear (cleats, balls, socks, shin guards, jerseys, etc.), or if you’d like to support with a financial contribution toward shipping, it would make a huge difference. Our target shipping date is the end of August 2025, and every item or dollar donated brings us closer to making this possible.
Whether you’re new to NCFC or a familiar face, I thank you for considering this mission. I’ll be sure to share photos and stories so you and your family can see exactly how your kindness changes lives. I have shared a few pictures from the donations from last year here.
If you’re interested in donating or want more details, please don’t hesitate to reach out directly. Together, let’s make this year’s campaign the most impactful yet. I can also pick up used clothing and used gear at any location of your convenience, just text or call me.
(Please note you do not have to go out of your way to buy new stuff.)
With deep gratitude,
Coach Ishe Nyatanga
