Please help bring some joy to Scott in His Final Months

Donation protected
Friends and family,

Our dearest Scott (“Pookie” to many of us) has received the news that no one wants to hear. Many of you are aware that he has been fighting for his life, and has been undergoing aggressive cancer treatment for well over a year. He has been through (and continues to endure) all of the worst that cancer promises… chemotherapy, radiation, stents, a myriad of medications, hospital stays, surgeries, drastic weight fluctuations and more… a perpetual physical and emotional rollercoaster.

Although Scott had made some great progress during portions of his treatment, he has very recently received the devastating news that his doctor will be switching him from curative to palliative treatment. Simply put, he is dying of pancreatic cancer and will not recover. The cancer is advancing and spreading to other areas of his body.

Scott’s medical team and he have put together a plan to improve his quality of life and relieve symptoms (as much as possible) for the time that he has left. In addition to comfort care, Scott will be undergoing treatment to hopefully give him a few extra months of precious time. The doctor’s best estimate of life expectancy is a range of approximately 4-15 months, but hopefully on the longer end of the range based upon his upcoming/continuing care plan.

Scott has been (and continues to be) a wonderful friend/family to so many folks. He has been there for countless people through the years in both the personal and professional connections he has made. Family is not just those connected to us by birth, but also the family that we choose to make our own. His family (in all of its forms) is enormous, and we need to be here for him.

Scott continues to reach out and check on many of those he cares about even while he is in his own battle. He has not been able to speak with everyone (the list is vast), but it is not because he does not care. He is simply exhausted, and doesn’t have it in him to recount his status/journey to all individually (nor should he be expected to do so).

Scott has been with his partner, Josh, for nearly seven years. Josh has been there and supported him through this terrible ordeal, and continues to be there to help navigate the inevitable outcome that they are both now facing together.

Now more than ever is the time for friends/family to come together and provide some financial relief and personal joy to Scott during his remaining time. Like many people, he is facing insurance premiums and deductibles (that start anew in January). There will be additional costs when he requires more in home care as well, along with the regular bills that most, if not all, of us have in our daily lives.

In addition to bills and costs that Scott is facing, he would like to have some fun in the near future while he still has the strength to enjoy a few “bucket list” items that he would like to enjoy with Josh. If you know Scott, he loves to travel. He, like many of us, think we have all of the time in the world to save money, and to get to those things “later”. Unfortunately, time is short.

He plans to celebrate his big “55” birthday in February of ‘26 in whatever way he is able to when that date comes. In the meantime, he dreams of traveling to Alaska and Europe with his partner. His doctors fully support his plans, and will provide treatment around them. Let’s help him make that happen.

Money is tight for many of us (as always), but I think we may have something we can spare to help a friend who never asks for anything. Please open your hearts and your wallets. Donate to Scott’s fund, and help bring him some much deserved joy and a bit of financial relief.

He asks that you send messages here (or to him individually ) if you want to reach out to let him know you are thinking of him. Scott can’t answer all of them personally, but they are meaningful and important, as each of you are to him.

Please donate, big or small… every bit helps.
