Hello, my name is Brandon. I am attempting to raise funds to adopt a dog from the MSPCA for my girlfriend and best friend of 18 years. We have been trying to get a dog for a year and a half, and we finally found one and are supposed to pick it up on Friday, November 29th. This is the story of my beautiful girlfriend, Denise.

My name is Denise, and I'm 50 years old. I live in Cambridge, Massachusetts, with my boyfriend and best friend of 18 years, Brandon. I'm set to adopt a puppy from the Boston MSPCA on Friday, November 29th. I receive $900 a month from SSI due to complications from a major back surgery that got infected, followed by another surgery at Mass General about five years ago. This left me unable to use my arms, and I spent four months in Spalding Rehab. Initially, they thought I'd need walking aids and nursing care, but I walked out of rehab without any devices.
On November 6th, 2021, my 24-year-old son passed away due to a severe seizure disorder. Losing a child is beyond words. About two years ago, I moved to Cambridge, MA, and my life has significantly improved. I wake up every day thankful for my beautiful surroundings, which I believe my son had a hand in helping me find.
For the past year and a half, I have been looking to adopt a dog from the MSPCA of Boston. Recently, I found my new little companion and will pick him up on Wednesday. However, because I receive SSI benefits, my monthly income is limited. After some necessary expenses and holiday shopping, I don't have enough to cover the $580 adoption fee; I am $380 short.Asking for help feels uncomfortable because I'm not one to beg, but this little guy and I have a special connection. I live next to a 90-acre park, and I'm sure I can provide him a great home.
As a way to show my gratitude, I can offer my artistic skills. I create portraits, make jewelry, and can draw anything you can imagine. If anyone can help me, I will be forever grateful and would love to share pictures of my new companion once I bring him home. Thank you so much for reading my story. Stay safe and have a great day.
THIS IS MY SON EERIE JOHN RUFO. MY FAVORITE ARTIST IN THE WORLD. HE WAS SUCH AN AMAZING YOUNG MAN. HE WAS 6ft 5in. And would pick me up and carry me every time we saw each other. He passed from a major seizure disorder. If anyone would like to donate to "EPILEPSYFOUNDATION, NEW ENGLAND" please click link below:Epilepsy Foundation, New England
