On September 2, 2025, Jose Recinos Acosta arrived home from work. He saw his 10-year-old son waiting for him to play as they usually did. But, before Jose made it to his door, 8 FBI agents emerged from an unmarked van and grabbed him. They had no official identification, there were no warrants, and no information was shared; just 8 men detaining Jose and then rushing him off in their van, leaving Jose's family in tears...

Jose is not a criminal; in fact, he has no record at all. He is a hard-working family man who has lived in the US for nearly 20 years.

In 2006, Jose left his family in El Salvador to flee the gangs that had threatened his life. He found a home in Seattle and began a 20-year career as a pizza cook. During this time, Jose married and had a son. He was happy and proud of the life he was creating. At the restaurant, Jose made many friends with his colleagues and regular customers. In 2024, Jose was named "Employee of the Month" at the mall where the pizza restaurant is located. There are over 100 stores in the mall, but Jose stood out as an honest man who was friendly and worked hard.

Jose is currently being held at the Detention Center in Tacoma. The family still has not been told why he's being detained.
