Latest update from the family, 30 September:

Update for those not on social media:

Socorro Antonio Peruano (Eric Albino Lliuya) is the initial team we have hired that are continuing their search. They had also been extremely helpful with the initial issues of filing missing persons reports, working with the police and local guides.

We have also been able to hire another team for more boots on the ground (Daniel Joshue Milla Lliuya) . Due to location, logistics and political climate they can only start physically searching after 2 days but through them we are able to expand the ground and drone search.

We are engaging and exploring options with international teams like STAT and Rescue-International whom are assisting with operational support and analysis.

Jordan's parents are in Huaraz, working with DFAT, the Australian embassy and the Peruvian police who have offered manpower and now helicopter support to Eric's team.

Thank you for your messages, support and well wishes. Please keep sharing and commenting. Every share can push this to new networks and that can help can reach someone who can help/give us more information. It really is helping.

On September 14, 2026, our dear friend Jordan Yap (30, from Melbourne, Australia) set off on a solo 10-day trek along the remote Cordillera Huayhuash Circuit in Peru.

Jordan was scheduled to finish his trek and return to Huaraz on the afternoon of September 23 to pick up his belongings from Krusty Hostel and take an overnight bus to Lima. He never checked back into the hostel, missed his flight from Lima to Cusco on September 24, and has not made contact with family or friends since entering the trail.

It is likely that he is stranded without a way to call for assistance.

High-altitude search and rescue operations in the Peruvian Andes require immediate private funding to operate at full scale.

The initial search costs have already exceeded $18,000 AUD to initiate a private search with Socorro Andino Peruano (SAP) - a specialised team of certified Peruvian high-altitude mountain rescue guides - alongside local police units.

This GoFundMe has been organised by friends of Jordan, to support his family and close friends as they focus on finding him and liaising with DFAT, the Peruvian government and local search and rescue. We are urgently raising funds to sustain these operations and bring Jordan home safely. Wesley, Jordan’s step brother, will continue to share updates as the search progresses.

Your contributions will directly fund:

  • Continued Mountain Search Teams: Paying daily rates for certified high-altitude search crews, local mountain guides, and arrieros (muleteers) to cover vast, off-trail alpine terrain above 4,000m.

  • Emergency Equipment & Logistical Support: Securing essential search tools, field communications, local transportation, and supply support as operational needs evolve on the mountain.

  • Family Travel & Local Coordination: Funding emergency flights to Peru and local logistics for Jordan's family to coordinate operations directly on the ground with the Australian Embassy, Peruvian police (USAM PNP), and local search leads.

  • Any potential medical costs when Jordan is found
