Several days ago while on a belated honeymoon trek to Machu Picchu in Peru, Jake Compton rapidly developed severe and life-threatening pneumonia. After a few days in the ICU in Cusco, Jake is being airlifted to a hospital in Lima tomorrow with his wife Tressa in order to seek a higher level of care. Unfortunately, they have no idea when he will be healthy enough to come home to Colorado. While he fights for recovery, Tressa and Jake are stuck in Peru racking up hospital bills and unable to return to their jobs. When he is eventually cleared to travel, they will also need to purchase new airline tickets. In the meantime, Tressa has been paying for the unexpected expenses of additional hotel rooms, food, and extra days boarding their beloved dog Nala. In order to leave the hospital, they need to pay off their balance, and therefore have an urgent need of at least $3000 to cover these costs. They have given everything they have to fight this harrowing experience in the last few days, and the last thing they need is a major financial burden keeping them stuck.
