On August 8, Jack Chung—a devoted father, loving husband, and lawful permanent resident—was unjustly taken into ICE custody as the result of a malicious, retaliatory report. To make matters worse, since his arrest, Jack has been subjected to a grueling and disorienting transfer process across the country. He was taken from his family in Alaska, moved to Washington State, flown to Virginia, and is currently being held in a detention facility in Natchez, Mississippi—over 4,000 miles away from his wife and children.

We are raising funds to secure top-tier legal representation to fight this injustice, bring Jack back from Mississippi, and help Mojo keep a roof over her children's heads during this terrifying crisis.

Who is Jack?

Jack embodies the very best of the American Dream. After facing persecution in China for his participation in pro-democracy protests, Jack was granted political asylum in the United States. He doesn't take his freedom for granted; in fact, the moment he received his Green Card, Jack immediately applied to join the United States Air Force. Tragically, he was medically disqualified during final screenings due to emergency room records stemming from severe childhood abuse.

Despite that setback, Jack has always lived as a dedicated, law-abiding patriot. When he was an exchange student in Kentucky, he was taken under the wing of a local attorney who offered him a legal internship. Through that mentorship, Jack fell in love with the American justice system and the values of the Jewish faith, eventually converting to Judaism. Jack’s loyalty runs incredibly deep: every year on his late mentor's birthday, Jack travels across the country with his young family to visit the mentor's grave—a traditional Chinese gesture of profound respect.

The Injustice

Jack is in this situation because his trusting nature was weaponized against him. Recently, Jack realized he was being exploited in a business arrangement by an associate named Peter. When Jack tried to do the right thing and initiated a formal investigation into Peter's business practices on August 3, Peter retaliated.

Just five days later, Jack was arrested by ICE. Peter has a known history of making bad-faith, weaponized reports to immigration enforcement (he previously did the exact same thing to Jack's uncle, who was eventually cleared and released). Jack is now sitting in a cell thousands of miles away simply for trying to hold a bad actor accountable.

Mojo is isolated in Alaska, struggling to care for a newborn baby and two young sons entirely on her own, while her husband is trapped in a facility in Natchez, Mississippi.
