Help us bring IRVINVILLE to Baltimore for FREE!

Donation protected

We are Theatre LuDu, the collaboration of theatre artists Lucius Robinson and Kevin Duvall.

Our goal is to raise $2,000 so that we can bring our new play IRVINVILLE to Baltimore, and offer it to the community FOR FREE! That's right, absolutely free! The $2,000 will help us pay for the cost of travel, performance space rental, lodging, and food for the weekend we plan to perform our show, but once that money is secured, tickets for audience members will be 100% free. We will be performing the show at the Baltimore Theatre Project on April 26th, at 7:30 P.M. and Charm City Books on April 27th at 7:30 P.M..

We believe that Theatre should be made accessible to the communities which it serves. Our show is designed in a way so that it may be produced for as little money as possible and adaptable to virtually any space. IRVINVILLE has no technical elements whatsoever: no props, no set, no lights, no sound design. This minimal design allows the show to be performed in any space at the drop of a hat; IRVINVILLE can and has been performed outside around a campfire!

So who are we? And what is IRVINVILLE?

We are Theatre LuDu: Lucius Robinson and Kevin Duvall. We both have over 25 years of experience working in the theatre as actors, directors, writers, and producers. IRVINVILLE is our first professional collaboration and the culmination of our experiences working as theatre artists for as long as we have.

IRVINVILLE follows a small American town besieged by a rampaging circus elephant, and the fallout that transpires as a result of it's demise. The show explores America's penchant for self destruction and the generational repercussions of unrequited trauma. The play revolves around an entire town's worth of people, but at it's center is a young boy, Jaxson Sallow whose benign complacency ultimately proves instrumental in Irvinville's inevitable rise and fall, and Mary the elephant, who sends the town spiraling into it's tragic trajectory.

Lucius and Kevin bounce between over a dozen characters to weave a complex tale of American blunder, hope, greed, paranoia, betrayal, and lies in order to uncover the truth of this place: Violence is easy... more than easy, it's natural.

Your support will be much appreciated. Even if you will be unable to attend the show in person in Baltimore, your support will enable us to continue down this path of bringing our work to cities around the country (and beyond?) and giving it to communities free of charge. If you believe theatre should be accessible and affordable, then please help us make that philosophy a reality.
