Bring Hope to Shannon and Serge's Family Dream

Donation protected
Shannon and Serge share the kind of love everyone hopes to find in their lifetime. They are truly the best of friends and support each other through all of life's ups and downs. Both working as nurses, Shannon and Serge are two of the most helpful and selfless people you will meet.

After getting married in July of 2023, the newlyweds started dreaming of becoming parents. After experiencing several miscarriages, Shannon and Serge enlisted the help of the incredible team at RMA in NJ. As a result of the recurrent miscarriages, Shannon underwent testing to determine the cause. Unfortunately, after months of blood work and testing, she was diagnosed with Triple Positive APS (Antiphospholipid Syndrome) and lupus. These two autoimmune illnesses not only cause recurrent pregnancy losses, but make carrying a child extremely difficult and dangerous.

No matter the odds, the couple was determined to try and have a baby. After five grueling rounds of IVF and a total of nine babies lost, Shannon's medical team (reproductive endocrinology, hematology, and rheumatology) delivered the extremely devastating news that this journey had become too dangerous to continue. With four remaining embryos, Shannon and Serge must rely on a surrogate to make their dreams of becoming parents a reality.

Never two people to ask for help, I am creating this GoFundMe on behalf of Serge and Shannon as a way to help them overcome this incredibly daunting hurdle. Not only do they both work as nurses, Shannon in oncology and Serge in neurosurgery, but they are both also helping care for Shannon's dad, John, a 9/11 first responder, who was recently diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Life has continued to challenge these two, but their commitment to each other, and to raising a family, remains steadfast. I truly don't know two people more meant to be parents than Shannon and Serge. Their courage, compassion, and determination in the face of adversity and heartbreak is nothing short of inspiring. I am hopeful that we can all help two people who have dedicated their lives to caring for others realize their dream of becoming parents. Thank you so much.
