First off, we would like to thank you for taking the time to read our story. This journey of ours has been long and hard, we have had our ups and downs. We thank God every day to have gotten us this far. With that being said, let's start from the beginning.
Hello, we are Dayla and Nathan Wray, we began this roller coaster trip a year after we met. When we first had an unexpected early term miscarriage , loss of life. This was devasting for us. Heartbreaking isn't a word for it. Writing this right now has me in tears considering what we have been through. We think about our angle baby every day. The what ifs and what could've been is just always in our minds. We then pondered on the situation and wanted answers.
So, we went to our local clinic and after numerous testing, we find out that Dayla has been diagnosed with PCOS. It's a hormonal imbalance that affects your ovaries and symptoms include irregular cycles and infertility. We were assured that we could go through with taking medications to then balance everything out. We thought... After thousands spent on medications and office visits that seemed to have no effect or great outcome, we were then referred to a fertility specialist that was local to us.
We went through multiple baseline procedures to find out everything we needed to know to make our miracle baby happen. Every doctor's visit felt like we would take one step forward and two backwards. After numerous medications, injections, testing, and procedures, we finally exhausted our complete savings towards this cause. We then were met with a hard decision. Do we continue or not?
After 4 long years, we were determined to make our dream come true. We have gotten this far, there isn't any way or anyone in this world to stop us from trying to achieve that we love the most. Our miracle baby. We continued, through multiple cycles of IUI (Intrauterine insemination) with failed results. With each having high hopes of success, we were only greeted with depression and sadness.
At this point we were drained, mentally and economically. If it weren't for our friends and family, we wouldn't have made it this far. Constantly supporting us through our roller coaster journey... With that being said, sadly we have come to IVF (In vitro fertilization) as our only option as trying to conceive on our own. Recently our last IUI didn't go as accordingly, and Dayla and I were given the word that its very costly. Also, some couples may need more than 1 IVF cycles depending on what the case is, we are hoping to only need one cycle for our rainbow baby to be brought into this world. Considering our past finances have been exhausted across 4 1/2 years of constant office visits, testing and medications. We had nothing left in the reserves. Our medical insurances don't cover fertility treatments and medications so all this time we have been out of pocket cost. We both work full time jobs, each week with a substantial amount of overtime when we are able. Trying to save as much as possible. We are more than grateful for getting this far, we would just like you to support us getting through the end of this journey with hope and gratitude. We have faith that IVF is the answer to our miracle baby Wray. We would appreciate it more than this world to have you be a part of our journey. We have applied for multiple IVF grants in hope of getting assistance in this treatment, we are still waiting on word from said grant programs. IVF is the most expensive fertility treatment with minimum costs around 14,000 dollars. That includes the necessary testing, medications and the procedures itself. Thats not including the travel expenses and hotel stays, if you need to travel to have treatment. We plan to use CNY Fertility, in Syracuse, New York. I will list below what our fundraiser will be used for in detail and its greatly appreciated, thank you again in advance for supporting our cause and our journey through IVF treatment. We also will provide updates as to anyone wanting to know how this goes. Thanks again
Base Clinic fees- $6,500
Monitoring Appointments: Monitoring appointments track ovarian/uterine lining development and time the egg retrieval.
Egg Retrieval + Anesthesia: The egg retrieval is the procedure to remove the eggs from the ovaries.
Conventional Fertilization: Conventional IVF fertilization involves prepping the sperm and putting them in a petri dish to fertilize the eggs.
A Fresh Embryo Transfer: A fresh embryo transfer puts the IVF embryos back into the uterus.
The Cost of IVF Medications: $4,000-$6,000 – Billed by a Fertility Pharmacy through CNY Fertility
If pregnancy is achieved, medication expenses can continue to rise as they are often used for months, and even for the duration of the gestation.
Genetic Testing-$2,200
Possibly improves odds of a successful cycle or reduces the odds of miscarriage
With those numbers in account, we have travel and hotel expenses considering we will need to fly and stay while treatment is being done. Thats around $2,000. We have a goal of 15k as some of that is a buffer for travel expenses and unexpected things that are necessary.
