My name is Carmela, and I’m reaching out with a heavy heart for my hometown — Danao City, Cebu — which was just devastated by Typhoon Tino.
The floodwaters rose so quickly that our ancestral home is now submerged, along with countless others. Streets that once echoed with laughter and life are now filled with debris, mud, and heartbreak. Families have lost not only their homes but also their livelihoods — fishermen have lost their boats, farmers their crops, and many children are now displaced with no place to sleep or clean water to drink.
While my own family is safe and able to rebuild, so many of our neighbors and fellow Cebuanos are not as fortunate. These are people who live day to day, who worked tirelessly to provide for their families, and who now face unimaginable loss.
I’m asking for your help to bring hope and relief to our direct neighbors in Danao— for food, clean water, shelter, and basic necessities for those neighbors who have lost everything. These neighbors are staying in the second floor of our home and hoping to have their basic needs. Every contribution, no matter how small, will go directly to supporting those most affected by this disaster.
Please help us remind the people of Danao that they are not forgotten. Together, we can help families rebuild not just their homes, but their faith and their future.
