Help Bring Hope to Trường học của trẻ em ở Pải Lủng, Hà Giang (School for the youth at Pải Lủng, Hà Giang)

Traveling to Vietnam was a truly humbling experience. Amidst the breathtaking landscapes and vibrant culture, one small mountain village—Pải Lủng, Hà Giang—captured my heart in ways I could never have anticipated.

It was there that I joined my niece on a mission of kindness. Her goal for the visit was simple but meaningful: to donate fans to the local school, so the children could learn in comfort despite the heat. Wanting to contribute, I brought along cookies, candies, and milk—small gifts, I thought, but ones that brought immense joy to the children.

What I didn’t realize until that day was just how profound an impact even the smallest gesture could have. As my niece shared the stories of these children, I felt tears welling up. Many of them face unimaginable adversity—growing up in deep poverty, there are children in this region who only live to be two years old, lost to malnutrition before they ever have a chance to experience the world. For many, the milk we handed out was the very first they had ever tasted.

In Hà Giang, where Pải Lủng is located, the staple food is Mèn Mén—a traditional dish made from steamed corn flour, eaten daily by the Hmong ethnic group. Most children here grow up eating only dry corn that’s been harvested and saved away for the year. It’s a humble meal, but for many families, it’s all they have. The lack of variety and nutrition in their diet is heartbreaking.

Pải Lủng is remote. The villagers must travel miles on foot just to reach the nearest market. Despite these hardships, the community’s warmth and resilience shine through. My niece tries to visit at least three times a year, each time bringing what she can to support the school and the wider community. Her next dream is to help provide clean water to the village.

Our mission doesn’t have to be grand to make a difference. Even the smallest acts of kindness can change lives. My niece once told me that just $20 could support one child for an entire month. That’s why I’ve created this campaign—to invite you to join us in making a real, lasting impact for these children and their families.
