Hi, my name is Vicky and I am fundraising for my dad to have life changing medical treatment.
He was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis at the age of 50 in 2013. Over the last decade he has continued to work to support our family despite his condition; which causes him constant pain, fatigue and increasing loss of mobility. His MS condition has severely impacted on his life and the lives of our whole family. He is an ambitious, hard working, fiercely independent and proud of his family.
Before MS he loved going to watch football; cycling and walking with his family and friends. He looked forward to active family holidays. He had a real passion for motorbikes; particularly his Ducati Super sport; none of which he is now able to do. Consequently his mental health has suffered significantly.
Sadly his decreasing mobility has contributed to a recent horrific fall at work; as a result he has been hospitalised for four months with a broken neck and back having to wear a full neck brace 24 hours a day. The MS condition has delayed his recovery and he is desperate to get his quality of life back. He is now at home fighting to recover. He is deeply frustrated at not being able to work and support his family. He is living with severe pain and the constant worry of how to continue supporting his family financially.
He has been researching endlessly over the last couple of years looking for any form of medical treatment which could alleviate his pain and suffering and slow the progression of his MS. He still has ambition, hopes and dreams to enjoy the simple things in life and we want to see him smile again.
Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation (HSCT) is an established non radiation chemotherapy medical treatment demonstrated to be effective to halt the progression in neurologic autoimmune diseases such as multiple sclerosis. The aim of HSCT is to “reboot” the immune system, to stop it from attacking it’s own body.
Discovering that there is a real chance to improve his life has given him hope for improvements in his condition and life.
As a family we have witnessed our fun loving father and devoted husband fall into periods of darkness and despair caused by the pain and awareness of his declining health.
This treatment is hugely expensive and not offered on the NHS. As a family we hope to raise the funds to enable our father to gain access to this treatment as soon as possible.
Without your generous donations this would not be possible. We would really appreciate any donations however big or small to help us make his dream come true.
