Help Us Rebuild What Was Lost — A Kitchen for the Dagraedt Family

Hi, my name is Karlyn Dagraedt — some of you might remember me as Karly Eddo from years past. Today, I'm stepping out in faith and asking for help to restore something many take for granted: a working kitchen in our home.

Six years ago, we discovered a serious water leak and mold issue that forced us to gut our kitchen and parts of our floors. We hired someone to do the work, trusting them with a $10,000 payment — money I had saved through surrogacy. They came, tore out all our kitchen cabinets, and some in the back of the house in preparation for the job… and then disappeared. We never saw them or our money again, and we had no way to recover the funds. Since then, our family has been navigating a long, painful journey through various phases of survival.

Phase One: No kitchen. We washed dishes outside or in the bathtub for six months.

Phase Two: With help from grandparents, we got a plastic sink and bins for dishes. Everything else was stored in my son's room for over a year.

Phase Three: A kind person gave us a rolling cabinet with a butcher block top. We're still using it.

Phase Four: A man promised to fully rebuild our kitchen, paint our home, and more. We purged our house in faith, ready for their team — but they never came. It was heartbreaking.

Phase Five: Generous friends installed temporary cabinets and wood countertops. A huge blessing at the time, but they’re now molding, and our sink is close to falling through.

Phase Six: We're praying for a miracle. We believe it’s finally time to rebuild our kitchen — safely and permanently.

This is a hard thing to ask, but we’re stepping out in faith. We’re asking for your prayers, and if you feel led, your support in helping us finally build a safe, functional kitchen for our family.

Every dollar, every prayer, and every share brings us one step closer.

Thank you for reading our story. Thank you for believing with us.

When I evaluated the cost of rebuilding the kitchen four years ago — including flooring, wall and mold removal, paint, cabinets, and plumbing — the estimate was already over $35,000. Since then, costs have only gone up. I’m stepping out in faith and asking to raise $45,000, though my guess is it may end up being more than that. It’s an amount we could never afford to come up with on our own, but we believe with prayer, support, and community, a miracle is possible.

With hope,
Karlyn Dagraedt
