This fundraiser is for Project Recover's Yukon 2469 Mission. The mission is to recover the bodies of 42 service members who perished aboard a C-54 air force Skymaster, when it disappeared in the Yukon on January 26, 1950. There was also a woman and child aboard. The plane took off from Anchorage, Alaska and was headed for Great Falls, Montana.
There was a very involved effort at that time to locate the plane, however technology was obviously limited. Also, the air force turned their focus on other priorities and did not return to finish the search.
The search continues, 75 years later. By Project Recover.
Project Recover is legitament. Please see their website for a lot more information. https://www.projectrecover.org/
Heres a reporting from a past mission where they located a lost service member's plane crash in Palau, an island nation in the pacific, from WW2. Project Recover and their partners brought the remains home. https://www.projectrecover.org/dpaa-accounts-for-arm1c-wilbur-a/
An exempt from that:
"In August 2021, Project Recover conducted an MIA Recovery Mission on the TBM-1c Avenger. This endeavor marked Project Recover’s first MIA recovery mission in partnership with DPAA, Scripps, and Legion Undersea Services. The accomplishment distinguishes Project Recover as the only non-government agency capable of all aspects of MIA Recovery, including research, search."
If this mission and organization inspires you like it does myself, please donate to support their efforts.
This gofundme does not pay out to me, it goes directly to the charity Project Rocover. I do not get even a penny(or a nickle lol)
Thank you for reading. Even if you can't find the means to donate please share Project Recover's website and story.
