I’m Jack, an independent filmmaker and, according to the U.S. Government, a borrower in good standing. I’m raising funds to help bring my TV pilot Higher Education to life. The story follows a straightedge Resident Advisor who starts dealing drugs to pay tuition when his student loans are revoked. This project is incredibly personal to me because it uses drama and comedy to explore the student loan epidemic in a way that feels human, urgent, and honest. I want to tell this story because so many students are forced to make impossible choices just to stay in school, and I believe the world is ready for a conversation around how student loans affect us all, whether we have them or not.

The funds from this fundraiser will go directly toward the real costs of making an independent pilot, including equipment, crew and cast, locations, and post-production. We’re already leaning on our community of indie filmmakers everywhere we can, and so many people are giving their time, talent, and energy to help make this happen. We’re also shooting in various public locations in NYC, where the story takes place. Even with that support, we still need help covering the essential expenses that will allow us to create something meaningful, make a positive impact, and help move the global conversation around student loans forward. Any support means so much and will help us tell this important story with care and quality.
