OUR STORY:

"Hide" is a horror short film written by Justin Kohlas and directed by Cory Pratt. It stars an ensemble cast who have collectively acted in some of Hollywood's biggest productions like The Leftovers, NCIS: Los Angeles, and Euphoria.

The story centers around Levi, a handyman for a wealthy family in the Hollywood Hills, who faces poverty, lives paycheck to paycheck, and occasionally sleeps in his car. One night when he believes the family is out of town, he decides to sneak into the property and take some money from the safe. He figures they'll never know and he'll replace it down the road. Unfortunately for him, he soon realizes the house may not be as empty as he thought when the sound of someone groaning in pain seeps out from the darkness of one of the rooms. He follows the sound and finds a young man he's never seen before. He's slumped in a wheelchair, hanging on for dear life, and tethered to an IV drip. Before he can try to help the guy, the family suddenly comes home. Levi hides in a closet just as they bring in several guests for what seems to be a pre scheduled dinner party. Levi soon realizes that his desperation for a quick pay day will soon turn into the most horrifying night of his entire life, which he's forced to witness through the cracks of the door he's hiding behind.

Our film explores a dark fantasy of well-meaning sustainability taken to the utmost extremes. We started our GoFundMe to help feed and pay the cast and crew, to secure our location, to get our production insured, and to pay for equipment, post production, special effects, and all of the talented artists we have brought together to make this vision a reality.

"Hide" is a haunting exploration of sacrifice, survival, and the dark corners of human nature, set against the backdrop of an upscale dinner party. This film delves into the psychological horror of what happens when people envision a future societal collapse, where morality is twisted, and the lines between humanity and monstrosity blur. Through atmospheric tension, complex characters, and a chillingly beautiful aesthetic, "Hide" will challenge viewers to confront the unsettling truths about what we are willing to consume and what we are willing to become.

Your support will help bring this thought-provoking, A24-style vision to life, inviting audiences to a feast they’ll never forget.

HOW YOUR DONATION HELPS:

The aftermath of the recent writer and actor strikes has left many of us creatives in a precarious position, with industry-wide disruptions causing financial strain and uncertainty about future projects.

As major productions stall and independent film hangs on by a tiny thread, those of us involved in self-driven projects are struggling to gain traction in an environment that is less supportive than ever. Supporting independent artists and Hollywood labor is crucial right now if you love movies and TV; we're the lifeblood of the entertainment industry, working hard to keep the spirit of storytelling alive while the industry recovers.

Donating to a GoFundMe for a short film is an impactful way to help during these unprecedented times. The public's support provides the resources we need to bring our visions to life, ensuring that work continues to thrive during this challenging period, and that creatives can continue to grow their careers in a time of severe slowdown.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read and learn about our project 'Hide." We hope you can donate, share, and spread the word as we work hard to give movie loving people everywhere something truly unique for the Halloween season.
