Hi everyone - I really hate that I’m writing this, but we need help for our boy, Gus.

Gus is currently hospitalized after a sudden medical emergency. The vets are still running tests, but right now they believe he was likely poisoned by something (or someone), which caused his kidney and liver levels to spike. Because of this, he will most likely need to stay at least one more night in the hospital so they can continue aggressive treatment and monitoring.

They are also looking into possible lymphoma, but his white blood cells an are completely normal. Aside from this situation, Gus is otherwise a very healthy dog. His heart, lungs, and other organs look good, which is why euthanasia is not an option for us. The vet truly believes that if Gus can get through this, he has many good years ahead of him.

Anthony really doesn’t want to ask for help, but we are struggling to make the right decision. This has all happened so fast. Just one day before this emergency, I was in the ER passing kidney stones, which came with a hefty medical bill of its own. On top of that, we’re still grieving the loss of our sweet Sophie, who we had to put down last year due to lymphoma. Having something like this happen again - so suddenly - has been overwhelming and heartbreaking.

So far, we’ve spent:

• $1,000 at the initial vet visit

• $4,850 for hospitalization and treatment

And with another night likely, the costs are continuing to grow.

Gus is my heart. He’s goofy, gentle, and so deeply loved by everyone who knows him. If you’re able to donate or share, it would mean more than I can put into words. Every bit helps us focus on doing everything we can to get Gus through this and back home where he belongs.
