“In just two years, I’ve had to say goodbye to both of my parents.”

On Sunday, August 10th, 2025, my dad, Gilbert Barreto, passed away in the hospital in New Mexico from injuries caused by a house fire that also destroyed our family home. Just two years earlier, I lost my mom and now my dad’s passing has left our family heartbroken and facing unexpected challenges.

My dad has a burial plot in Northern California, where he was born and raised and where he always wanted to be laid to rest. Getting him there is the only way I can honor his wishes, but the cost of transporting him and covering the burial expenses is more than my family can afford right now.
