Help Fernando Fight Guillain-Barré Syndrome

Hi everyone,

My name is Karoline Coreas, and I’m asking for help for my little brother, Fernando Flores, who is just 18 years old. He was away at school in San Jose and was supposed to come home for Thanksgiving. Instead, he suddenly became extremely weak and had to be rushed to the ICU, where he was diagnosed with Guillain-Barré Syndrome: a rare condition that can quickly paralyze the entire body.

We drove to San Jose as fast as we could, expecting to bring him home for the holiday. Instead, we found him unable to move. It’s something no family is ever prepared to face.

Since then, Fernando has needed constant care, specialized treatment, and he now faces a long and demanding recovery. Because of this crisis, our mom and his dad had to stop working so they could stay by his side at the hospital. With Fernando far from home and medical bills growing, we are overwhelmed and reaching out for help.

Fernando should be enjoying college, laughing with his family, and coming home for the holidays — not fighting to regain his strength and movement. We just want him back home.
