Hello, my name is Sylvia, and I am Eugene’s fiancée. I am reaching out for help during an incredibly difficult and unexpected moment in our lives.

Eugene was recently stopped at a U.S. Border Patrol checkpoint and taken into custody. At the time of the stop, we were not given a clear explanation or documentation explaining the reason for his detention. This was especially shocking and distressing, as Eugene has legal status in the United States and has a pending asylum case. He has been fully complying with all immigration requirements and has been patiently waiting for his asylum interview.

Eugene has always followed the rules and trusted the legal process. He has never tried to evade the system and has consistently done everything asked of him while his case is pending. For this reason, his detention was completely unexpected and has been emotionally and financially overwhelming for both of us and for our family.

The funds raised through this campaign will go directly toward covering legal fees, court and government filing costs, bond-related expenses, and any other necessary costs associated with defending Eugene’s case and helping bring him safely back home to his family and to me. Legal representation is critical in situations like this, and the financial burden has become significant in a very short amount of time.

Eugene is a kind, hardworking, and loving person. He has always contributed positively to those around him and has built a life here based on honesty, responsibility, and hope for a safe future. This situation has been devastating for us, but we are holding on to faith and strength, believing that with proper legal support, Eugene will be given the opportunity to return home soon and continue his asylum process as intended.
