THE SITUATION:
Estena was injured in an ATV accident while abroad.
On New Year’s Day, Estena was severely injured in an ATV accident while visiting Jamaica to celebrate her birthday. There are fractures in her neck and injuries to her back and spine. Since the accident in St. Ann on New Year’s Day, she has been transferred from St. Ann’s Bay Hospital to Kingston Public Hospital. The fact of the matter is: she has been unable to secure the care she needs while on the island and needs to come home.
THE CHALLENGE:
It’ll cost between $45,000 & 50,000 to air-lift her home.
The severity of Tena’s injuries have made it so that she cannot travel back to the US for care via commercial flight. Medical professionals are requiring that she only be flown via medical transport for a cost of between $45,000 and $50,000 USD. Insurance does not cover travel costs of this magnitude, and Estena & her family have been paying out-of-pocket to cover the scans, imaging, medications, procedures and care she is receiving while in Jamaica.
THE GOAL:
Raise the funds to secure transportation from Jamaica to New York.
Our goal is to transport Tena back to the States so that she can receive immediate and vital care at a hospital close to home. Even with a strong advocacy team working around the clock from all over the world to ensure her comfort, care, and particulars, there is no substitute for being in the physical presence of loved ones.
If you know Estena, you know she is resilient and will not allow anything to keep her down or break her spirit. We are so incredibly grateful that the Lord spared her life and allowed her to see another year. Although 2025 will start off as a challenging year for her, we have faith and believe that the Lord will continue to reveal Himself to her through her healing and recovery.
