Hi everyone, I’m reaching out for assistance from you, my friends, family, and community members back in USA. Me and my baby Eliza are having an emergency here in Sri Lanka and need financial support to pay for food, rent, utilities, transportation, legal fees, and eventually airfare.
We came here to unite with Elizas biological father Lakmal, file for his immigration to USA, and come home, but upon arrival things were terribly bad. I have been robbed twice, sexually assaulted, brutally beaten by Lakmal and me and Elizas lives threatened by Lakmal and his violent family. Additionally Lakmal has filed a fraudulent lawsuit against me claiming neglect and abuse against Eliza and all manner of other disgusting things he could concoct; Adultery, sexual misconduct, drug and alcohol abuse, etc… Anyone who knows me at all can bear witness to my character- that I love my children above all and would never behave in a manner that would put them at risk. Eliza is my joy- my precious gem…
Without my knowledge Lakmal filed this motion and without hearing my side or even seeing me, and knowing Lakmal is out on bail for his pending assault and domestic violence charges- the judge approved an order preventing Eliza from leaving the country. The order has expired but despite this the judge has refused to notify immigration to remove the travel ban on Elizas passport. Even after I collected certified copies of the court transcript and presented them to the department of immigration/emigration the Sri Lankan officials have refused to remove the ban from their computer system, keeping Eliza and me hostage here illegally…
This has placed me in a position where I am not legally able to work here, yet I cannot leave- I’ve paid thousands in penalties for overstaying our visas yet we cannot leave because the government refuses to acknowledge that there is no order in place binding us to stay here…
The USA embassy is aware of all and to my shock and disappointment are doing nothing to help.
I have exhausted my savings and maxed my credit cards…
I need to be able to survive here and pay legal counsel to fight for me and Eliza, but without financial resources I fear I will end up a beggar on the streets…
Please- it hurts my pride so much to ask, but at this point I have no other options. I need help. If you can afford even a little to help bring me and little Eliza home, we would be so grateful. Many thanks and love to you all.
