Hey Everyone!

Weeee're Baacck!! I've updated this fundraiser because we've revamped! We decided to work on this film in a different capacity - as a Proof of Concept Short Film! What is that you say?? We're going to shoot a condensed, teaser version of the longer feature! We're going to put everything we've got into a 12-13min film that we'll then present to investors - so they can fund the larger production! The heart of the story remains the same, but we'll be able to produce this ourselves!

Just a quick recap of the story: Based in the Baltimore suburbs of the late 90s, our "cool" nerd, Melvin, a 13-year-old black teen, is gearing up for 7th grade, and he's excited to reconnect with his best friend, Darryl, after he's been away at summer camp. But unbeknownst to Melvin, Darryl has changed quite a bit! When they finally meet days before the start of school, Darryl declares Melvin isn't "black enough" to hang out with anymore! Talk about earth shattering! In a desperate attempt to hold on to the friendship, Melvin asks Darryl a crucial question! I won't reveal that here though, cause you'll need to watch the film ;) (But if you remember from last year, you know what he asked!)

Where are we in the process today?! Pretty far along actually! We've scheduled our shoot dates for Sunday, June 7th and Saturday, June 13th! We found a new school to shoot in (Yay!), so that is also secured! The script is done, and our actors are rehearsing as we speak! We're building our team of experienced crew members, and we'll be meeting with them to finalize the look and vision! And we'll be shopping for all things 90s to set dress our home scenes and our school location soon! So Basically, WE'RE ON THE MOVE!!

I'm super excited to get back into this! But we'll need your help one more time! While we're doing this on a smaller scale, it still takes funds to cover crew, gear, talent, location, insurance, you name it! We raised a couple grand last year, but we need one more good push to make this a reality! Please support us in this effort to get our short film made!
