Bring Demi and Dancer Home: Support Janelle and Scott
Donation protected

Please help bring Demi and Dancer home! I am Wendy Johnson, the Founder of Touch of Grey rescue, and promise to deliver every penny raised, directly to Janelle and Scott. They give so much to others and are some of the most generous people I know. When I reached out to Janelle about raising money for them, she responded "I would've never thought to ask for help. I have such a hard time receiving, it's much easier to help others." It's now time for karma to do it's thing!
Janelle and Scott moved Demi and Dancer, their two rescue mini horses, into their garage prior to the arrival of Hurricane Milton. This was just hours before a tornado devastatingly ripped through their pasture and around their house, destroying the barn and field these horses know as their "home". By taking extra caution to move Demi and Dancer into the garage, Janelle and Scott saved their horses lives.

Demi and Dancer were locked in a garage for 12 hours with wind, rain, and a tornado howling outside. They were then loaded into a trailer for the first time in over 5 years. They were transported to an unfamiliar location (a friend's property) and dropped in a field, where they will remain until they can come home. They were undoubtedly confused and anxious as they watched their humans tearfully say goodbye.

Monetary donations are needed, as estimates are in the 10-15K range to build new shelter and fencing to get Demi and Dancer's paddock livable again. Every little bit helps, and $5 donations are welcome! If anyone has any dirt, fencing or wood supplies, can sponsor the building of a fence, or help with any of the rebuilding efforts in Palm Beach County, please reach out!

Janelle and Scott have rescued many animals in their lifetime, and Demi is one of them. She was seized by the SPCA with 26 other neglected animals in 2019, and was completely blind in her right eye. A sucker for the misfits, Janelle adopted her into her pack and Demi became a companion to her childhood horse, Spook. Spook, who had become a senior horse by then, went to the rainbow bridge, shortly after. Demi became lonely and withdrawn. Dancer came into the pack temporarily to cheer Demi up, but they quickly formed an unbreakable bond. Janelle had no choice but to adopt Dancer as well.

I met Janelle in 2018 when she volunteered to foster senior and special needs dogs for Touch of Grey Rescue. Since that time, Janelle and Scott have taken in several dogs, many of our most challenging medical and behavioral cases. They fostered and adopted Echo and Pumpkin, two dogs found in separate but similar circumstances of neglect. Both were close to death from starvation, and were nursed back lovingly by Janelle, to a complete state of emotional and physical health. Janelle and Scott's pack grew to 5 dogs and a kitty cat, yet they continued to foster. They worked through behavioral challenges, whereas most people would have given up. Janelle takes great pains to give every animal individual attention to ensure they reach their full potential. Once an animal is introduced into their pack, they become part of the family. Any dog, cat, horse, or other species that is lucky enough to come into contact with Janelle and Scott, are truly family for life.

Janelle and her husband Scott are literally two of the most understated, giving, kind, generous, and big-hearted people I know. Please help me by showing them that there are others out there that care just as much as they do, and donate whatever you can to help reunite them with Demi and Dancer.
