Bring Dakota and Hadley Together!

Hello everyone! My name is Alexus. My son Dakota was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia cancer in June of 2023. He has gone through countless amounts of chemotherapy, radiation, bone marrow aspirations, and lumbar punctures since then and is currently in remission!

In August of 2023, we were told he was considered high risk and would need a bone marrow transplant. His team at Seattle Children’s began the search for the perfect 12/12 match for Koda for his transplant. We received the news in September of 2023 that they had finally found a donor for him. Koda received his transplant on 11/1/23 and has been in remission ever since!

The hospital had us go through Be The Match for donation, and we weren’t allowed to communicate with his donor until one year post-transplant. Just a few weeks ago, we received an email from Koda’s donor, Hadley! We are so over the moon that we get to have communication with her. We found out that she lives in Chicago and we’re all the way in Washington. I’m setting up this GoFundMe in hopes to raise money for them to meet in person!

Koda’s team told us today they are expecting him to be able to travel in June or July as long as we take all the precautions in keeping him healthy. Any donation is much appreciated. If you cannot donate, please share so they can meet in person!
