Help Rylan Get Comfortable: Battling a 1-in-a-Million Condition

Easing Rylan's Daily Struggle

We are reaching out to our community, friends, and kind strangers to support Rylan, an incredible 14-year-old boy from Central Michigan.

Rylan is a high-functioning autistic teenager with a huge heart and a big family—he's one of eleven children! He loves to learn and, perhaps most of all, enjoys his video games.

Unfortunately, Rylan is facing a rare and complex medical challenge that has profoundly impacted his daily life.

The Challenge:

Diffuse PVNS of the Left Knee

Rylan has recently been diagnosed with Diffuse Pigmented Villonodular Synovitis (PVNS) of the left knee.

This is an extremely rare, complex condition—truly 1 in a million—where the lining of the joint thickens and overgrows, causing significant pain and mobility issues. The diffuse form is particularly challenging and requires specialized, long-term care.

Due to the daily pain and immobility this condition causes, Rylan has had to transition to virtual learning. He now spends most of his day in one room, needing comfortable, supportive furniture to help manage his pain while he studies, rests, and tries to enjoy his hobbies. Despite the daily struggle and immense pain, Rylan is staying incredibly positive and focused on the positives.

The goal we want for Rylan:

We are looking to raise $800 to purchase a few specific items that will make Rylan's long days of sitting and studying much less painful and a little more enjoyable. These items are crucial for supporting his affected knee and allowing him to maintain a sense of normalcy: a recliner, a bedside/recliner desk on wheels, and a gaming chair with a footrest.
