All the patients who attend the Alan Squirrel Renal unit at QEQM suffer from Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) which means the kidneys are damaged and can't filter the blood. Dialysis helps to remove waste products and excess fluid from the blood. Patients attend therapy 3 times a week for up to 4.5 hrs per session. The impact of Dialysis greatly compromises the individuals quality of life from social and leisure activities to maintaining a job and forming personal relationships.

Comfort items, entertainment and a positive atmosphere make all the difference here as our patients need to spend a great deal of time at the hospital. Therefore we are always grateful of any donations which can improve the patient experience.
