Bring Comfort and Mobility to Kristoph

Hi, I’m Kristoph Duell. I was admitted to the hospital 34 days ago due to having a severe UTI and extremely high white blood cell counts that caused me to be very sick and weak. I also didn’t urinate for 36 hours or so while in the emergency room on observation even with fluids in my system. They did a urine culture and put me on very strong iv antibiotics for 3 days which cleared up the infection but, also made me feel like garbage.

I also have had mobility struggles on and off since early child hood. Most recently it got bad again when they found this bad uti and I was unable to walk much. My legs give out and are super weak and a tad numb from the knees down to my feet. They are still unsure what caused this. They think it could be a combination of medical reasonings that I have to see specialists for. So here I am feeling at a loss for answers and like a lab rat but, thankfully Saratoga hospital staff has taken great care of me and treated me very well and are very kind to me. I have pain in my lower back with a bulging disc in my L4 and muscle weakness in my legs. I have stairs in my home, so I am working on strength and endurance to go back home.

I was advised to get a stair lift; however, my insurance doesn’t cover it. I also have been getting bored in the hospital and looking for activities to do and am on a tight budget at this time.

I am currently in Saratoga hospital waiting for a nursing rehab bed and if I don’t get one I will stay in this hospital until I’m stable enough to go home.

Any donation is much appreciated and will all go towards medical needs such as the stair lift and any other medical supplies I may need that my insurance won’t cover. Also for activities to do while in the hospital so I’m not bored such as coloring or art projects. Any little bit helps. Thanks in advance. Prayers and thoughts are always appreciated as well.

I also wanted to add so folks where aware that with proper medical equipment and accommodations I can live independently in my home without losing my housing which I love. I love living where I live and the community I live in which I try to be very active in when all possible. I am a firm believer that no one should have to be homeless due to their physical limitation, live on a first floor apartment which we all know is rare to find that one can afford these days and so on. With the right things to adapt my physical and medical needs in place I can stay put in my cozy second floor apartment and hopefully reduce hospital stays and nursing rehab stays. I’m 32 years old and it’s hard to be the youngest one in acute rehab. I love seniors and all but, I would prefer to be the one taking care of them in those settings not be the one that is in the same setting as them, if that makes sense. I would rather stay put in my community where I feel I belong best for as long as I can. If any one has any questions or concerns please feel free to inbox me via Face book. :-)
