Hi everyone my name is Alyssa and my family’s dog name is Blue. She’s 5 years and she’s currently going through some medical issues. We rescued Blue when she was 6 months old from an abusive household. She’s a caring and gentle dog. She’s always full of energy and loves to play. From the moment we rescued her she’s been nothing but a sweet and loving to everyone she meets. She’s had health issues in the past. She was born with a tumor in her stomach but thankfully she pushed through and has been healthy ever since.

One day she suddenly started limping, we thought maybe she just bumped into something or had got a cut. We checked but to our surprise there was nothing so we decided to wait and see if over time she would get better. About to 2 days went by but she started to get worse. She started to drag her leg and was unable to support herself. She stopped going to the bathroom and was struggling to eat. The next morning she couldn’t even stand. She would try to walk but both her hind legs would just drag behind her. She could only support her self with her front legs for moments at a time. It got to the point to where she just laid in bed and did not want to move. She stopped eating and stopped going to the bathroom. Any little movement would result in her crying out in discomfort. We decided to take her to the vet and see what was wrong.

We took her to the vet on December 7th to see if we could get some answers. They did X rays and multiple test hoping to figure out what was wrong. The doctor let us know that it was even more serious than we had thought. She was diagnosed with Chronic Lumbosacral intervertebral disc disease (LVDD). Her discs in her lower spine are degenerating. This is causing her persistent back pain, stiffness, and radiating pain down her back legs due to nerve compression.

She needs to see a specialist and to do more test such as an MRI. We are asking for donations to help pay for her MRI and a dog wheelchair to help her get around more comfortably.
