Bring Clean Drinking Water to a Community in Need

On Friday Oct 1st, the joy on this 8 year old's (Lincoln) face turned to sadness and despair when Bluejays staff directed us away from our seats and off the property. Our crime? Daring to complain about the 4oz of water provided to us by the concessions staff. No one at any point directed us to a water fountain (we weren't aware they existed) or offered to address our concern. We were met with only derision and dismissiveness at every level. The Aramark manager seemed particularly offended by our complaint, and as such had us removed from the property with the assistance of Rogers Centre security staff and the Toronto Police. We left respectfully and without incident.

We are all for turning lemons into lemonade. We hope the result of this mess will be something positive. After we left the Rogers Centre, Lincoln brought up something he had learned in school. He learned that many Indigenous communities in Canada still don't have access to clean drinking water. He was troubled by how unfair this was, and he wondered if he could do anything about it. I've never been more proud of him for drawing that connection. He understood in that moment that there are things more important than sport. We could all learn from him.

Help us raise awareness and bring clean drinking water to communities that so desperately need it.

Thank you
