Christian and Claudia came to the United States from El Salvador as minors, each carrying the hope of building a safer and more stable future. Three years ago, they became a couple and moved to the Berkshires to pursue work, stability, and the chance to build a life together. Since then, they have created a young family. Their daughter is only one year's old.
Over the past year, Christian and Claudia have faced hardship after hardship. In January 2026, their apartment caught fire, and they lost nearly everything they owned. Like many young families trying to survive after a crisis, they had to start over from nothing — rebuilding their home, replacing basic necessities, and trying to regain stability for themselves and their baby.
Because of that financial pressure, Christian accepted a work opportunity in Buffalo, New York, with a roofing crew. He was trying to do what so many parents do: find work, provide for his family, and help them recover from a devastating loss.Unfortunately, while working with the roofing crew, Christian was detained by ICE. He has been in ICE custody since May 5.
His detention has left Claudia, a 20-year-old mother, alone with their one-year-old daughter and facing deep uncertainty about the future. She is now trying to care for their child, cover basic living expenses, communicate with Christian, understand the detention system, and find legal support — all while carrying the emotional weight of being separated from her partner.
We are raising $15,000 to help secure legal representation for Christian. These funds will go directly toward the legal work needed to fight for his release from detention and give him a meaningful chance to remain in the United States with Claudia and their daughter.
This is an urgent moment. Immigration detention is difficult to navigate, especially for a young family already recovering from the trauma of losing their home in a fire. Without legal representation, families like Christian’s are forced to face a complex and overwhelming system with very little support.
Christian deserves the opportunity to fight his case. Claudia and their daughter deserve the chance to have him home, safe, and present with them as a father and partner.
Any donation, no matter the amount, will help this family move closer to securing the legal support they urgently need. If you are not able to give, please consider sharing this fundraiser with others.
All donations are tax deductible through the not for profit Roots & Dreams and Mustard Seeds Inc. Foundation checks or mailed checks can be sent to Roots & Dreams and Mustard Seeds Inc, 164 Skyline Trail, Hinsdale, MA
Thank you for standing with Christian, Claudia, and their daughter during this painful and uncertain time.
