Bring Chandra & Maezali PEACE & JOY

Donation protected
Hello, my name is Miss Audrey. I work closely with Chandra Dayton as a teacher's aide for the Salt Lake City School District, Open Classroom.

Chandra is an anchor to our school community. She is selfless, caring, and a humble unsung hero. If you walked through our school hallway and passed Chandra, she would likely be wearing something colorful and hand-knitted. Chandra would smile at you while carrying something to deliver to a teacher or pushing a homemade nature cart full of her own personal treasures to share with our students. Her life work is to love and support her beautiful daughter Maezali, while serving our school to assist wherever she is needed at any time, for anyone. Despite silently struggling with housing insecurity, Chandra positively gives her diligent, consistent efforts to our school.

I created this fundraiser to create a hopeful pathway forward for Chandra and Maezali, to aid them with ensuring stable housing, ease stacking bills, and carve out some space to enjoy this holiday season.

Chandra's need to work, even after regular school hours, has made critical Mother-daughter time with Maezali difficult with her work schedule. Chandra's paychecks will get smaller with our school's winter break upon us.

Please consider donating to this cause; reaching this goal will go straight to Chandra's past and present rent, pressing bills, car repairs and new tires. Christmas time is Chandra's favorite time. The remainder of the funds will be used to ensure Chandra and Maezali a much-deserved peaceful Christmas and start to the New Year.

I want to end with Chandra and Maezali's favorite family holiday recipe she has been sharing with the children of our school. ENJOY, and THANK YOU for your donations which will brighten the twinkling in Chandra's eyes.

-Grandmother's Famous Cranberry Bread -

2 cups sifted, all-purpose, flour
1 cup sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 cup butter or margarine
1 egg beaten
1 teaspoon grated orange pill
3/4 cup orange juice
1 1/2 cups, light raisins
1 1/2 cup fresh or frozen cranberries, chopped

Sift flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and baking soda into a large bowl. Cut in butter until mixture is crumbly. Add egg, orange pill, and orange juice (all at once). Stir just until mixture is evenly moist. Fold in raisins, and cranberries. Spoon into a greased 9 x 5 x 3" loaf pan. Bake at 350° for one hour and 10 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Remove from pan, cool on a wire rack. If you choose, you may substitute cranberries for the raisins to have an all cranberry bread.

Happy Holidays!
