BRING BRONWYN HOME TO VERMONT
Donation protected
Dear Friends, I am launching this GoFundMe on behalf of my good college friend Bronwyn Smith. We had many formative adventures together on the beautiful, windswept campus of Johnson State College in 1980. We were a part of a wide circle of friends, strong women who knew how to have fun. As a group we kept each other safe and sane as we navigated through college life.
Bronwyn has been paralyzed for thirty years with some arm movement. Bronwyn has full sensation to her entire body and has been in pain since onset of paralysis. Presently her pain has been assessed as that of a late stage cancer patient and it is poorly controlled. On September 17th Bronwyn's husband Gary Sisco died suddenly leaving her and dog Shygirl alone in Lexington Kentucky. Bronwyn's friends Liza and Martha went to Lexington shortly after Gary's death and stayed ten days, helping Bronwyn a great deal. I went to Lexington three weeks ago and found Bronwyn in home care. Five days later she was admitted to UK Good Samaritan hospital for evaluation and is there now. Home care in Kentucky is not an option. The dog Shygirl is safe and sound in Vermont.
Bronwyn learned from evaluation that she is unwell and has opted for comfort/Hospice care in Vermont. Plans are in place for home care in Vermont. Bronwyn will be brought by long distance ambulance to home care setting. Once here she will be evaluated by Hospice team. If Bronwyn not immediately accepted to Hospice she will be home care patient until she qualifies for Hospice services. There are no nursing home spots anywhere right now, our only option is home care. To assure the safe success of this effort we need to secure funds for four months of housing and caregiver costs. Almost all other costs will be covered by volunteers and donations. Right now Bronwyn is fund less and what few assets she has are tied up in probate. This is the second GoFundMe for Bronwyn. If you donated to the first one thank you, you've done your part. These funds will bring Bronwyn to Vermont. Bronwyn is so grateful and moved by these contributions made at the time of Gary's death.
Please consider helping Bronwyn get end of life care in Vermont. Many plans have been made but this is tipping point, unless we get these funds this will not happen. We need funds as soon as possible. Every donation will count, please share and share again. Thank you. As an Emergency nurse for twenty years I attest to the truthfulness of this GoFundMe and it has been Bronwyn approved. Margaret Western McLaren
