Due to the ongoing conflict between Cambodia and Thailand, more than 500 schools have been forced to shut down, and thousands of families have been evacuated from border areas.
While the government is working to shift education online, primarily to support older students, especially those preparing for national grade 12 exit exams, many younger children are being left behind.
Their classrooms are gone. Their books are gone. Their education has been disrupted.
As Cambodian students studying abroad, we may be far from home, but our hearts remain with the children caught in this crisis. Though we cannot stop the conflict, we can come together to protect something just as vital: their right to learn.
We are launching this GoFundMe campaign in collaboration with the Mobile Library initiative in Cambodia to raise funds to buy and deliver books, learning materials, and mobile library kits to children who have been displaced. Our goal is to bring hope and continuity through the power of education, even in the smallest of ways.
What your donation will support:
• Age-appropriate storybooks and educational materials in Khmer
• Transportation costs for delivering books to evacuation sites
• Temporary reading spaces or “pop-up libraries” for displaced children
• Local volunteers and facilitators to read with and support children
Every dollar makes a difference. Even a single book can open a child’s mind and bring comfort in times of fear and uncertainty.
Let’s show these children they haven’t been forgotten.
Please donate, share, and help us keep the love of learning alive, even in times of crisis.
With deep gratitude,
Cambodian Students Abroad & Mobile Library Cambodia Team
