Bring Bama Home: Support Mahina's Family

Hello lovely people,
My name is Mahina and I’m reaching out with a heavy heart and a hopeful spirit.

In January 2025, my one-year-old daughter and I left everything behind and moved back home to Hawaii. We were escaping a deeply toxic environment — I was in a domestic violence situation and facing constant harassment from in-laws, both verbally and online. It was one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever made, but also the most important one. I had to choose safety, healing, and a better future for my daughter and myself.
We arrived in Hawaii with almost nothing, but I knew we were finally somewhere safe — surrounded by love, family, and the support we desperately needed. Sadly, in the chaos of our sudden move, I had to make the heartbreaking decision to give up my dog of six years, Bama to a foster family near Everett, Washington. He had been my best friend, my emotional anchor, and a constant companion through some of the darkest moments of my life. Saying goodbye to him felt like losing a piece of my soul.
I thought I’d never see him again.
But then — a miracle.
A few weeks after our move, a friend reached out and told me Bama wasn’t doing well. In the span of just three weeks, he had been passed around to five different homes in Washington State. My heart shattered knowing he was confused, anxious, and without the stability he deserved. I knew I had to do whatever it took to bring him back — to reunite our little family and give Bama the safe, loving home he’s always known with me and his sister, Alaia.
Thankfully, a family member in Washington has stepped in to care for him temporarily, but this is only a short-term solution. I need to bring Bama home to Hawaii — for good, and I will not stop until I do.
That’s where Pet Jets comes in. They specialize in flying pets safely across the country, and most importantly, they treat our fur babies like family. The cost of the charter flight is approximately $7,500 — a cost that’s simply out of reach for me right now as I rebuild our lives from scratch.
This is why I’m asking for your help.
Every dollar donated will go directly toward Bama’s flight home. Your generosity would not just reunite my dog and myself — it would restore a sense of wholeness and healing for our little family... something I desperately need. My daughter still looks for Bama and lights up whenever she sees his photos. We miss him dearly, and I know he misses us too. If you can find it in your heart to give — no matter the amount — you’ll be a part of something incredibly special: a story of survival, second chances, and unconditional love.
From the bottom of my heart — thank you for reading, for sharing, and for helping us bring Bama home.
With love and gratitude,
Mahina T.
