For the first time, Nar Sur — a rare and powerful throat-singing and musical tradition from Balochistan — is on it's way to Europe.
We are raising funds to help three Baloch musicians travel from Pakistan to the Netherlands, so they can share their music and stories with Europe for the very first time.
This project was born from a shared love for music, culture, and human connection. Nar Sur is not just music; it is a living tradition, passed down through generations, deeply connected to the land, history and people. Yet outside Balochistan, this music is almost unheard. Together, we want to change that!
Why we are fundraising
The largest and most essential cost of this project is the international return flights for three Baloch musicians traveling from Pakistan to the Netherlands. Because of the distance, limited routes, and current circumstances, these flights are expensive — but without them, the project cannot happen.
This crowdfunding is fully dedicated to covering these travel costs, so the musicians can share their music with audiences in Europe for the very first time.
Why this matters
- For the musicians, this is a rare opportunity to share their art, culture, and stories beyond borders
- For the Baloch community, it is a moment of visibility through art, music and cultural heritage
- For world-music lovers and throat-singing enthusiasts, it is a once-in-a-lifetime chance to experience a unique musical tradition up close
- For all of us, it is a reminder that music connects people — especially in these difficult times
Who we invite to support
We warmly invite:
- Members of the Baloch community, wherever you are in the world
- World music lovers and cultural explorers
- Throat-singing practitioners and enthusiasts
- Artists, educators, and anyone who believes in cultural exchange
- Anyone who feels that music can build bridges where words fall short
Every contribution — large or small — brings this journey closer to reality. If you’re unable to donate, sharing this campaign already means a great deal.
Thank you for standing with us, listening with open ears, and helping this music travel across borders.
With gratitude and hope,
Rowan & Saran Hartsuiker and Mehrab Marri
