There are 4 flights of steps in Troopers Hill Woods, some of them nearly 40 years old. Wear and tear mean they now need refurbishing. The Birch Collective, who have have been working with volunteers in the woodland, will carry out the work if money can be raised to pay for materials and the time of 2 supervisors to manage the volunteers.
Friends of Troopers Hill are preparing a grant application for the funds needed to replace nearly 200 steps but the application is far more likely to succeed if support is shown for this project by your donations. Also for every £11.50 donated we can apply for an extra £100 from the grant fund that we have chosen.
The first 20 people to donate £20 or more will be offered a place on a guided walk in the woods to learn about the woods' history and plant life.
More can be read about the steps and the woods here
If the grant application fails we will use the donations to repair as many steps as possible. Any surplus funds will go towards nature conservation work on Troopers Hill Local Nature Reserve.
